Meet Mrs. Kady
My name is Julie Kady and I have the honor of being your fifth grade teacher this year! This is my fifth year teaching in Utica Community Schools. I have taught 5th grade for the past four years and I absolutely love it. This is my first year at Schuchard Elementary and I am excited to be a Schuchard Stallion and join the Schuchard family! I have taught for three years at Walsh Elementary and one year at Rose Kidd Elementary, all in Utica Community Schools. I grew up in Shelby Township and attended Utica Community Schools all of my life, as well. In fact, I went to Monfort Elementary, Shelby Junior High and Eisenhower High School. I live with my husband, Jason, who is an Engineer for General Motors and our dog Sophie. Sophie is our three year old morkie. A "morkie" is a maltese and yorkshire terrier mix. You'll hear lots of stories about our little 8 pound barking member of our family.
Here's some information about my educational background. I graduated from Oakland University with a bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education back in 2004. I have a major in Language Arts and a minor in Science, which I am endorsed by the state of Michigan. During the summer of 2010 I finished my master's degree in Teacher Leadership through Oakland University. I look forward to continuing to learn throughout my teaching career. I enjoy learning about how I can improve my teaching and help my students succeed in the classroom and in life!
My hobbies include reading, shopping, playing softball and being with family and friends. I play softball every summer with my husband, on a coed softball team. I also enjoy singing. I was in show choir, vocal jazz and musicals when I was in high school. I really enjoy reading, both for fun and education books about classroom practices. My husband and I also enjoy spending time in the summer up in Port Austin at our parents cottages on beautiful Lake Huron.
I hope you'll enjoy growing and learning throughout our year together. I look forward to seeing what new things we will learn about. In my classroom I stress the importance of working together as a team, being responsible, and taking pride in your work. Our classroom motto is: "Do it better than you have to!"
